I love old books! There are times when I will go on the hunt for some old books at antique stores and such. Every now and then I will find a journal or some old notes that are filled with great stuff. In my library I have a really small book (4x3) titled GOD'S MINUTE. It's full of prayers for everyday of the year. Inside there are handwritten notes that someone wrote in between the pages, perhaps when they were listening to the Lord. It's dated by someone in 1934. Some of these pages really minister to me. I'm sure this person had no idea that someone would be reading it 73 years later.
Here is a poem that is written by someone in this book, it's called REALITIES:
'Tis what we are, not what we seem;
'Tis the work we do, not the dreams we dream;
Not what we have, but what we give;
Not the words we speak, but the life we live;
Not the things we teach, but what we learn;
Not the wrong we do, but the sin we spurn;
Not the valiant deed on the King's highway,
But the gentle deeds from day to day,
The things which help to cheer and bless,
That make the sum of our happiness.
